Chris Murphy B.Ec (Hons) (Sydney), M.Ec (ANU)
Executive Director

Chris Murphy Chris is the founder of Econtech. He worked as an economic modeller at the Commonwealth Treasury, developed the Murphy Model (MM) at the ANU, and its successor, MM2, at Econtech. MM2 is used for national, industry, state and demographic forecasting. More recently, he constructed the MM600+ model, which is used to analyse the effects of economic changes, including tax reform, on individual industries and the national economy. He has also constructed models of Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong for the governments of those countries, and divides his time between our Canberra and Sydney offices.

Jodie Patron B.Sc B.Ec (ANU)
Director, Canberra Office

Jodie Patron Jodie has been with Econtech for 11 years. She developed the Econtech NTS Savings Calculator, which was used to estimate the impact of the New Tax System on individual businesses and government agencies. Jodie has extensive experience modelling the Federal Government's job network. Jodie is Director of Econtech's Canberra office.

Professor Paresh Narayan MA (USP), PhD (Monash)
Senior Adviser, Microeconometrics

Paresh NarayanParesh occupies a Chair in Finance at Deakin University, and acts as the Senior Adviser to Econtech on microeconometrics. Paresh's major research interests are in applied finance, applied econometrics, environmental and health economics, energy economics, and transport and tourism economics. Through Paresh's input, Econtech ensures that its analysis rigorously applies state-of-the-art microeconometric analysis.

Emily Brown B.Comm (Hons) (Deakin)
Senior Economist

Emily Brown Emily has been with Econtech for six years and was previously at the Australian Bureau of Statistics. At Econtech, she produces construction forecasts for the Construction Forecasting Council and undertakes consultancies on regulatory policy. Emily is based in our Canberra office.

Craig Tipping B.Comm (Hons), B.A Asian Studies (Curtin) M.Ec (UVic, Canada)
Senior Economist

Craig Tipping Craig worked for four years at the Commonwealth Department of the Treasury on the Federal Budget and Australia’s dealings with the IMF. He then moved to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal, where he analysed regulatory and competition policy issues concerning NSW’s bus and port industries. Craig is based in our Sydney office.

John Smith B.Ec B.Comm (Uni. of New.)
Senior Economist

John Smith John is nearing completion of a Master of Economics degree from Macquarie University. Prior to joining Econtech, he undertook financial risk assessement and management at APRA and leading private financial institutions. At Econtech he undertakes econometric research on infrastructure projects and environmental issues.

David The B.Comm B.Sc B.Ec M.Comm (Macquarie)
Senior Economist

David The David holds degrees in Economics, Actuarial Studies and Computing. Prior to joining Econtech, he worked on forecasting housing activity at the Australian Treasury, and examined Social Policy and labour market issues for the Department of Finance. At Econtech, he provides customised forecasting services and is involved in the continued development of Econtech’s macroeconomic models.

Dinar Prihardini B.ACTS B.Ec (Hons) (ANU)
Economist

Dinar Prihardini Dinar holds an Actuarial Studies degree and a First Class Honours degree with the University Medal in Economics from the Australian National University. At Econtech she undertakes econometric research to underpin our macroeconomic forecasting services and for consulting projects. Dinar is based in our Canberra office.

Kelly Neill B.Asian Studies (ANU)
Economist

Kelly Neill Kelly completed a bachelor in Asian Studies and is undertaking her Honours Year of a bachelor of Economics at the ANU. At Econtech she applies her research skills to a wide range of projects. Kelly is based in our Canberra office.

Darren Wheatley B.Ec B.Comm (ANU)
Economist

Darren Wheatley Darren has completed a combined bachelor in Economics/Commerce degree at the ANU and is undertaking his Economics Honours Year. At Econtech, his work focusses on forecasting and analysis. Darren also works on the Growth Grid, a twice yearly book containing detailed industry forecasts.

Office Manager

Steph Carter Steph is a highly experienced business manager. Based in our Canberra office, Steph is your point of contact for Econtech's range of publications. She also deals with accounting matters and reception.
