Income Taxes

Econtech has expertise in both business and personal income tax.

Business Income Tax

Econtech has modelled various proposals to reform business taxation. This includes projects undertaken in the context of the Review of Business Tax (Ralph Report).

Econtech has also modelled a successful proposal for exempting foreign venture capital investment in Australia from capital gains tax. This proposal has since been substantially adopted by the Federal Government policy.

  • "Modelling the Economic and Budget Impacts of Broadening the VCLP Program", Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources, 2003.
  • "Economic Analysis of AVCAL’s Proposed Venture Capital Investment Vehicle – Addendum on Domestic Super Funds", AVCAL, 2002.
  • "Economic Analysis of AVCAL's Proposed Venture Capital Investment Vehicle", Australian Venture Capital Association Limited, 2001.

Personal Income Tax

Econtech has also developed a Personal Income Tax (PIT) Model. The PIT Model can estimate the effects of changes in the personal income tax rate scale on taxpayers at different income levels as well as on Federal Government revenue. The PIT Model has a track record of closely replicating Federal Budget estimates for the cost of the personal income tax cuts contained in successive Budgets. Econtech also undertakes consultancies on personal income tax policies.
